How Attendance Percentage & Required Classes Are Calculated
Current Attendance % = (Attended Classes ÷ Total Classes) × 100
Classes Missed = Total Classes − Attended Classes
Additional Classes Required (x) = ⌈ ((Target% × Total) − (100 × Attended)) ÷ (100 − Target%) ⌉
Classes Missed = Total Classes − Attended Classes

Example: Suppose 80 classes have been held, you attended 56 classes (70%), and your college requires 75% attendance:
x = ((75 × 80) − (100 × 56)) ÷ (100 − 75) = (6000 − 5600) ÷ 25 = 400 ÷ 25 = 16 consecutive classes.
Verification: (56 + 16) ÷ (80 + 16) = 72 ÷ 96 = 75.00%.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both the National Examinations Board (NEB) for Class 11/12 and Tribhuvan University (TU) / Pokhara University / Kathmandu University generally require a minimum of 75% to 80% class attendance for a student to be eligible to sit for final board examinations.
If your current attendance is below target T%, each future class you attend increases both your Attended Classes and Total Classes by 1. Solving (Attended + x) / (Total + x) ≥ T/100 yields x = ceil((T × Total - 100 × Attended) / (100 - T)).
If your current attendance already meets or exceeds your target, the calculator displays 0 additional classes required and also tells you how many upcoming classes you can afford to miss without dropping below your target.
Once even 1 class is missed, your ratio of Attended / Total will always be strictly less than 100% no matter how many future classes you attend. Set your target to 95%, 80%, or 75% instead.
