Whether you are studying under Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu University (KU), Pokhara University (PU), or the National Examinations Board (NEB), one standard rule applies universally: a minimum of 75% attendance is required to sit for semester and board examinations.
1. Why Colleges Enforce the 75% Cutoff
The 75% threshold ensures that students engage with mandatory laboratory practicals, internal evaluations, and group discussions. Students falling below 75% risk being designated as "Non-Collegiate" or disqualified from receiving exam admit cards.
2. The Mathematical Catch with Falling Behind
When you miss a class, both your total classes and missed classes increase. To recover from 60% back up to 75%, each new class you attend only increases the numerator while the denominator also expands. For example, if you attended 30 out of 50 classes (60%), you must attend the next 30 consecutive classes without missing a single lecture to reach 75% (60 out of 80 classes).
